I must admit some level of surprise at comments from professed atheists posted to my last entry. TW pointed out that my reference to an atheists’s “faith” is incorrectly placed and offered clarification here
In reading TW’s blog and following some of the links offered there I realize one thing. Christians don’t understand atheists as atheists don’t understand Christians. Based on my admittedly limited observation, we live in two completely different frames of reference each with it’s own currency.
The currency of atheism seems to be an unyielding call for clear evidence. Most blogs I read demanded evidence of God’s existence, but evidence is not the currency of Christianity. Faith is. For a Christian, evidence does not give way to faith. Faith gives way to evidence. I am a Christian, not because of a lifetime of analysis and supporting data, but because I was called and have faith.
I can very likely offer no evidence to TW that would not be countered and that’s fine. Faith is a very personal matter. I have faith and I know the evidence. I’ve seen it and I live it. I’m glad folks like TW troll the Christianity blogs and engage in discussion. I pray all of us find the grace and peace that faith in Jesus brings.

A good and valid explanation.
I have faith because I’ve had an experience and have a relationship with Christ that can’t be explained or proven; it just is.
Comment by cumby February 12, 2007 @ 11:05 pmI do agree with you that you need faith to believe in Christ, however if we accept that Christ is Lord and that his word is true, then science, history and philosophy is wrong if it contradicts this. Therefore I think it is an incredibly useful thing to have a knowledge of science and the world, not be scared of it.
Comment by fredericthewise February 13, 2007 @ 4:14 amWhat this does is gives us a defense against attacks from Atheists and such like because we can say something like “I believe this through faith, but have a look at this and this that supports the faith that I have. Some people need to see to believe, like doubting Thomas. We can show them if we explore nature and science with the bible as our base and the world a physical representation of the glory of God.
God bless you.
fredreich – agree completely and many thanks for your support!
